The Financial Services Commission of Ontario released a review of the Catastrophic Impairment Designation contained in our Insurance Act and Regulations. The definition is intended to draw a line between those entitled to lifetime $2M in benefits, and those entitled to ten year $50,000.
It persists in the tort side of the legislation but has become less relevant due to other amendments.
